Are all hazy beers classified as IPAs?
Ever wonder what makes it hazy?
Why do certain hops go into certain beers?
What does “Gravity” mean as it pertains to beer?
Join us for an Educational experience to answer these questions and more. Our guest speaker will be Randy Scorby, one of our local Homebrewers, Beer Cicerone and Grand Master Beer Judge.
Randy began his search for great beer decades ago and he has been home brewing since 2006. He is currently the Assistant BJCP Continuing Education Director as well as a Grand Master IV Beer Judge, Mead Judge and Cider Judge. He was also the 2011 National Homebrewer of the Year. He has traveled to many locations worldwide in search of the perfect beer, including Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, New Zealand, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Enjoy the evening while learning proper beer tasting techniques, as well as recognizing the difference between styles. Improve your understanding and appreciation of how complex & nuanced the various hop varietals, malts & yeast contribute to your favorite beers. Join us & you will learn how to properly examine and enjoy beer, starting with visual presentation, then assessing the aromas, and finally appreciating the flavors with samples.
